Start With A Badging Micro-credential

Professional Learning owned by the Professional

You are already engaging with powerful microlearning on Discovery Education. The Marzano Academies badging experience turns that learning into a clear, step‑by‑step pathway so you know exactly how to apply the concepts and skills in your classroom and support others in your system.

What the Badging Experience Does.

Each badge represents a specific set of instructional practices you can apply with students. As you earn badges, you build confidence, document growth, and create a common language for instruction.

With each Badge Experience, educators will...

  • Focus on high‑impact instructional practices
  • Apply it directly with their students
  • Reflect on impact on their learners
  • Receive feedback from Marzano Academies faculty
  • Show evidence of implementation, not attendance at a session

Why start here?

Badging is the recommended starting point because it turns a broad instructional model into a specific next step. It allows teachers and teams to begin with a manageable commitment, apply what they are learning, and build from experience.

While A badge helps an educator develop a focused area of practice, once implementation begins, they often want to understand how that practice connects to the larger instructional model and learn how others are adapting the model in different settings.

The Marzano Academies Learning Lab provides that continuing support. Members gain access to the Instructional Model Folios, additional learning resources, and a professional community focused on thoughtful classroom implementation.

The Learning Lab supports the individual teacher who wants to continue beyond a badge, a coach working across several areas of instruction, or a school administrator developing a shared approach to professional learning.

An Instructional Model That Connects Teacher Action to Student Response

The Marzano Academies Instructional Model is organized around ten Design Areas, including proficiency scales, assessment and feedback, instruction, grouping and regrouping, engagement, belonging and esteem, and student agency.

The model asks educators to consider more than whether they used a strategy. Teachers examine what they did, how students responded, and whether adaptations are needed for learners who are not yet experiencing the intended effect.

The Instructional Model Folios, available through the badging experiences and the subscription, support that process by connecting research with classroom strategies, self-reflection scales, and specific examples of teacher and student evidence. This gives educators a common language for discussing instruction while leaving room for professional judgment and differences among classrooms.
