About The Learning Hub
The Learning Hub is a vibrant professional learning community designed to honor the expertise, curiosity, and autonomy of educators. Rooted in the principles of andragogy, the Hub empowers teachers to choose their own professional development paths—exploring topics that matter most to their practice and their students. Whether you're diving into competency-based education, implementing the Marzano Academies Instructional Model, or refining your instructional strategies, you'll find support through on-demand resources, collaborative forums, and a growing network of like-minded educators. The Learning Hub is more than a resource—it's a community built for teachers, by teachers, where meaningful growth happens on your terms.
NICE TO MEET YOU
I'm Bob Marzano
I am the founder of Marzano Academies, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit dedicated to helping schools develop a unique vision of a competency-based learning system. I constantly enhance the Academies’ model through continued research on what works to support teacher development. We know this approach can be implemented at both the district and school levels, and now, with our Learning Hub Community, we can support individual teachers in their desire to apply CBE theories and principles in their classrooms.

NICE TO MEET YOU
I'm Ashley Avila
I am an implementation specialist for Marzano Academies, a current associate for Marzano Resources, and coauthor of Teaching in a Competency-Based Secondary School: The Marzano Academies Model.

NICE TO MEET YOU
I'm Bill Zima
I am the Director of Implementation for Marzano Academies. I have served as a middle school science teacher, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent- all in schools that were competency-based or transitioning to this style of learning. Prior to teaching, I was an animal trainer, hired to help open Disney's Animal Kingdom.
I have authored two books, The Mindsets and Skill Sets of Learning and The Marzano Mastery Approaches. When not supporting schools in their implementation of the programs and practices designed to develop agency and ensure achievement for all learners, I enjoy playing music and hiking our National Parks.

Why We Created The Learning Hub
We created the Marzano Academies Learning Hub because we believe educators deserve the same level of personalization, agency, and support in their learning as we strive to provide for students in a Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.
Shifting to a CBE model is more than adopting a new framework—it requires deep changes in practice, mindset, and school culture. It calls on educators not only to understand the theories behind CBE but to translate those theories into consistent, effective action. That translation—from principle to practice—requires time, space, support, and choice. The Learning Hub was built to meet that need.
Grounded in the principles of andragogy, the Learning Hub honors the professionalism and autonomy of adult learners. Teachers and leaders using this platform are not passive recipients of information—they are active participants in shaping their own learning journeys. With on-demand resources, guided strategy demonstrations, community collaboration, and implementation tools aligned to the Marzano Academies Instructional Model, the Learning Hub supports personalized growth in a flexible, accessible way.
At its core, this platform exists to help educators develop and refine the procedural knowledge necessary to enact CBE with clarity, confidence, and consistency. It’s one thing to understand the importance of learning progressions, feedback cycles, or proficiency scales—it’s another to design and deliver instruction, assessment, and schoolwide systems that bring them to life. The Learning Hub bridges that gap.
Whether you’re new to competency-based education or deep into your implementation work, the Learning Hub invites you to engage with a supportive professional community, explore tools created by CBE experts, and reflect on your practice at a pace and depth that works for you. It’s more than a library of resources—it’s a living environment where meaningful learning happens for educators, just as we hope it does for students.
This is your space. Your time. Your path. Welcome to the Learning Hub.
